This full-day tour covers Kamakura's landmarks with an English-speaking guide, meeting at Kamakura Station. Visit the Great Buddha at Kotoku-in Temple, an 11-meter bronze Buddha and National Treasure, then continue to Tsurugaoka Hachimangu, Kamakura's main Shinto shrine, walking through grand torii gates and up stone steps overlooking the Dankazura approach. Find a peaceful escape in the bamboo grove at Hokokuji Temple, with the option to enjoy matcha tea, before finishing on Komachi Street, a lively shopping lane of cafes and street food. All four core stops sit within 5km of central Kamakura, so the public-transport plan covers this walkable route. The private-vehicle plan covers the same four sights and adds Enoshima Island, 15-20 minutes' drive away, where you can visit Enoshima Shrine and view island cliffs. This option is a paid upgrade, and the itinerary can be adjusted within the allotted time.
Visit the iconic outdoor bronze statue of Amida Buddha, standing over 11 meters tall. This National Treasure has survived typhoons and tsunamis for over 750 years, offering a peaceful and awe-inspiring presence.
The most important Shinto shrine in Kamakura, founded by the Minamoto clan. Walk through the grand Torii gates and climb the stone steps to enjoy a panoramic view of the city and the Dankazura approach.
Known as the Bamboo Temple, this serene spot features a stunning grove of over 2,000 bamboo stalks. It’s the perfect place to experience a quiet Zen atmosphere and enjoy a bowl of Matcha tea in the forest.
Conclude your tour at this lively shopping street. It is packed with trendy cafes, traditional craft shops, and unique street foods like seafood crackers and Matcha ice cream.

Kamakura is a coastal town south of Yokohama, once Japan's samurai capital, known for the Great Buddha, Zen temples and surf beaches.
Kamakura was the seat of the first samurai government, from the late twelfth to the early fourteenth century, and its hills still hide dozens of temples and shrines. The Great Buddha at Kotoku-in, a bronze figure about eleven metres high, sits in the open air, and the broad avenue of Wakamiya leads from the beach to Tsurugaoka Hachimangu, the town's main shrine. Hasedera temple has a tall wooden statue of Kannon and a terraced garden above the sea.
Top-ranked sights in Kamakura: Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine.
