About Negombo

Negombo is een rustig vissersstadje aan de westkust van Sri Lanka bij het vliegveld, met palmenstrand, lagune en kanalen uit de Nederlandse tijd.

Het lange strand van Negombo staat vol pensions, cafés en zeevruchtenrestaurants, en elke ochtend leggen kano's met uitlegger en vissersboten aan op het zand. De vismarkt, een van de drukste van het eiland, spreidt zijn vangst langs de kust uit om in de zon te drogen, een levendig tafereel van handelaren en meeuwen.
