About Amsterdam

Amsterdam omringt zijn gouden-eeuwse centrum met grachten, gevelhuizen en bruggen en combineert grote kunst met fietsen in een compacte stad.

De grachtengordel, in de zeventiende eeuw gegraven, buigt in concentrische bogen om het oude centrum: Herengracht, Keizersgracht en Prinsengracht, omzoomd door hoge koopmanshuizen. De Jordaan, net ten westen daarvan, is een doolhof van kleine grachten, hofjes, bruine kroegen en zelfstandige winkels, en aan de rand ervan staat het Anne Frank Huis aan de Prinsengracht.
