1. Câmara de Lobos is an emblematic city, county seat, near the capital Funchal, full of beauty and famous for its nightlife. By sea it was soon endowed with a small port that made the important freight connections to Funchal.

5. Porto Moniz is a beautiful town, located in the northern part of the beautiful island of Madeira, and is one of the oldest towns in the north of the island, famous for its natural pools. The region was isolated for many centuries from the rest of the island, only accessible by foot and by sea, and only after the Second World War did the charming road linking Porto Moniz and São Vicente.

  Excellent 8 hour tour. Paul was superb very friendly, chatty and full of interesting facts. He went out of his w to show us interesting places. The meal was great value for money. A really pleasant day full of interesting visits.

About Funchal

Funchal is the capital of Madeira, a Portuguese island in the Atlantic, set on steep green hills with flower-filled gardens and a seafront old town.

Funchal spreads up a steep hillside above a natural harbour on Madeira's south coast. The old town, the Zona Velha, has narrow lanes with painted doors and small restaurants, and the cathedral dates from around 1500. The Mercado dos Lavradores sells tropical fruit, fish and flowers in a hall decorated with blue tiles. A cable car climbs from the harbourfront to Monte, high above.
