Come and enjoy with us in a 1 hour ATV tour around the Volcano in Vestmannaeyjar and experience the unique view the island and its surroundings have to offer During the trip, we will go to Prestvik beach where fishing ship Pelagus stranded, we will also drive around and view the scene where Guðlaugur Friðþórsson came to land after 5-6 km of swimming in the dark and cold sea after Hellisey VE 503 sank. We will drive around the lava and into the middle of the volcano Eldfell and along the coast, where the view is breathtaking. This trip is recommended for all the family who will enjoy driving around historical sites of Vestmannaeyjar on a fun riding ATV. The ATV´s are automatic and easy to drive so no specific experience is needed. All ATV´s are 2 person where driver needs to have a driving licence, passengers need to be 6 years or older.

5Amazing experience and incredible tour guide!
Amazing tour! Alisa was incredibly knowledgeable about the area and the environment. She was so accommodating and friendly. She also took the time to explain safety and take pictures for us. Great experience and would recommend to anyone visiting Iceland.
5Wonderful tour, so much to see on a tiny island!
We visited Westman islands in mid-September, right at the very end of puffin season. We were the only people on our tour and our lovely young French guide let us spend as long as we wanted in each location, telling us about the island, the puffins, and other things to do there. We had a really nice morning and would highly recommend this tour to others (and we saw puffins!).

About Heimaey
Heimaey is the only inhabited island of Iceland's Westman Islands, a volcanic outcrop of puffin cliffs and lava, with a harbour town rebuilt after 1973.
Heimaey, the largest of the Westman Islands off Iceland's south coast, lies about 10 km from the mainland and holds a fishing town of more than four thousand people. In January 1973 an eruption split the ground beside the town, burying houses under ash and lava, and the islanders were evacuated almost overnight, mostly by fishing boat. The new volcano, Eldfell, now rises behind the harbour and can be climbed, and the Eldheimar museum shows a house dug out of the ash.
