  1. Tikal National Park encompasses 575 square kilometres of jungle and thousands of ruined structures. The central part of the ancient city alone contains 3,000 buildings and covers about 16 square kilometers. Tikal is also part of the one-million-hectare Maya Biosphere Reserve created in 1990 to protect the dense forests of the Peten, which started to disappear at an alarming rate due to population pressures, illegal logging and slash-and-burn agricultural practices. Archeologists estimate that the Maya settled in the area now known as Tikal in about 900 BC.

  • 5A Bucket List Adventure

This was a fantastic tour that exceeded expectations. Our driver and guide were extremely professional, courteous, fun, and genuinely cared for us as customers. We arrived in Flores on a Saturday afternoon which gave us time to explore Isla de Flores before our adventure began at 8:00 AM on Sunday. Our driver, Antonio, met us promptly at 8 at the front door of our hotel, we picked up our awesome guide Natanael (Nate the Great) and off we went. We stopped halfway for the paid lunch which hit the spot and prepared us for exploration of the Tikal archaeological site. Nate is bilingual so we were able to bombard him with multiple questions and he had the answer for all of them. The sites were just as advertised and we were able to check off one of our bucket list places to explore. We can't say enough as to the expertise that Nate displayed in spotting and identifying both fauna and flora of our expedition. It was an incredible day and in my opinion one of the best tours we have ever been a part of. Tip money is all one would need for this tour and our guide and driver were well worth it!

  • 5Great tour and overall experience!

Had a great tour and overall experience. Driver and our guide Nate texted to confirm the day before, arrived promptly, and took care of all details as planned. Our guide Nate was highly knowledgeable, very friendly, fluent in English and we had plenty of time. Pickup at 8am, Lunch at 1:30, back hotel by about 3:30 so a full day with about 9500 steps. Learned and saw a lot- exactly what we hoped for.

  • 5The Best of the best of Guatemala

I wanted the best tour I could have that included the sunrise and sunset packages. Tikal Go provided us with an excellent guide who met us at 4 AM and departed at 6 PM that same day. In between we got a comprehensive tour of the park and the monuments. Our guide pointed out many plants and animals that grow on the site. My daughter and I were very impressed with his knowledge, his kindness and his willingness to answer all our questions. If you are going to Tikal, Tikal Go is well worth your money.

  • 5Great experience at Tikal with Kendel of TikalGo

Our flight from Guatemala City arrived very early in the morning and our hotel room would not be ready for many hours. Kendel from TikalGo met us at the airport with Alex the driver at 6:20 am. They took us to Tikal where Kendel gave us a very knowledgeable and informative tour. He then brought us to the restaurant where we had a delicious lunch. Afterwards they dropped us back at our hotel in El Remate. A perfect way to spend our first day here. Kendel was great and happy to go at whatever pace we wanted and show us whatever we wanted.

  • 5A perfectly structured tour!

My husband and I agreed - Tulio was our favorite guide we had in a while. We had such an exceptional experience touring Tikal. Not only is the site amazing, but Tulio gave the perfect tour. He knew a ton, and he kept the tour engaging for both myself (history lover) and my husband (not so much). He was able to answer all our questions, and was so incredibly patient when we got a late start or wanted to spend more time enjoying the views at a particular spot. I also love how he would teach us about each place, then give us time to explore on our own, and then regroup, so we could take our time and decompress, but also learn a ton. It was exceptionally well done. I highly recommend a visit with Tikal Go!

About Flores

Flores is a small island town in Lake Petén Itzá in northern Guatemala, the main base for the Maya ruins of Tikal and the Petén rainforest.

Flores sits on a small island in Lake Petén Itzá, joined to the shore by a short causeway, with cobbled lanes circling a hilltop plaza and a cathedral. It stands on the site of Nojpetén, the last capital of the Itza Maya, which held out against the Spanish until 1697. The island is ringed with small hotels and lakeside restaurants, and boats cross to lakeshore villages.

Top-ranked sights in Flores: Yaxhá, Lake Peten Itza (Lago Petén Itzá), Bena Traditional Village.
