In evidenza
The highlight of any trip above the arctic circle: experiencing the magical northern lights dance across the sky. The mystery of light has given us many myths and legends over the years. Everything from heroes who lit up the sky to mysterious fire foxes and warnings of danger. The dry and stable climate in Alta provides the best conditions for seeing the Northern Lights. On this trip we combine the excitement of snowmobiling with experiencing the northern lights dancing across the sky. We take you along the old postal road up to the very edge of Finnmarksvidda to a mountain range called Beskardes. Far away from the lights of the city this trip provides the ideal conditions to see the northern lights in a beautiful winter landscape. If we are lucky we will get to see the magnificent northern lights dancing across the sky on our trip, or be treated with a beautiful arctic night sky.

5Old boys
Magical and cold. Our ski gear did not make it, had to get other gear on. The only way to see the northern lights but bring a good camera phone capable of taking pictures in low light samsung failed but iPhone worked
5Excellent experience
Beautiful lodge where we set off and got kitted out in warm weather and safety gear. The snowmobiles were all in good condition. Small group size. Friendly and helpful guides who told us all about the area. No northern lights unfortunately but that didn’t spoil the special feeling of being in a remote part of the beautiful country.
5Core memory unlocked
Ulf was an amazing guide. Patient and supportive with our group of 5. We also had perfect weather - 0 precipitation, and minimal clouds. He ensured we had the proper fit for the provided clothes and equipment. Then got us all out into the wild, to maximize our evening run. We took a well worn path, perfect for beginners, but also just enough to keep things interesting. He took just the right amount of stops to ensure everyone was okay and comfortable, as well as to swap drivers. We ended up around 535 m above sea level (where amazingly, I was still getting 3 bars of 5G - Norway knows what it's doing!). This is where we stopped and thr aurora decided to put on a show for us. Ulf prepared a hot blueberry drink for everyone, which was just the energy hit we needed. This trip is absolutely a core memory now. Worth every penny, and more. The aurora was just an added unexpected bonus. I will say though, the experience ABSOLUTELY depends on favourable weather. I don't believe it would have been anywhere near as fun if it was raining, so do watch for that.
5What a light show!
This was great fun. Our awesome show started during the Van ride and we stopped for a minute to get great photos. There was a little bit of a glitch in the beginning and figuring out where one group was, but we all got together and had a fantastic time snowmobiling and had amazing shows. They had great equipment for us and kept us very warm and overall it was a fantastic experience. Just know that when they tell you to meet by the blue building, you won’t be able to tell it’s blue at night. So pay attention when you go out during the day so you know the spot.
5Amazing Trip of Lifetime
I had never been on a snowmobile and that in itself was awesome. We made it to the top of the mountain and so grateful for the warm suits provided by the operator. Kept us perfectly warm and protected. The northern lights at the top were spectacular!!!!! A trip of a lifetime.
5It was the best...
It was the best experience we could have hoped for. The team is extremely organized and very helpful. Jens, our guide, was exceptional! He explained everything to us, guided us safely, found the best vantage points, and made sure we were comfortable the entire time. The hot cider and chocolate break was perfect. Highly recommended!

About Alta
Alta is a town in Arctic Norway, known for ancient rock carvings, the northern lights, midnight sun and a great salmon river running to a fjord.
Alta lies at the head of Altafjord in Finnmark, the northernmost county of mainland Norway, where pine and birch forests give way to open mountain plateau. Its rock art, thousands of carvings of reindeer, boats and people made between about 4000 BC and 500 BC, is listed by UNESCO, and the Alta Museum explains it with boardwalk trails around the carved rock faces. The Northern Lights Cathedral, a spiralling titanium-clad church, is a landmark in the centre.
