We begin our tour from Nafplion towards the mythical castle of Monemvasia, one of the top tourist destinations in Greece. We will enter the castle-town through the main gateway, stepping straight into the world of medieval past. We will explore the romantic alleys and discover Byzantine monuments and buildings with Venetian and Ottoman elements. We will see the panoramic views of the Myrtoo Sea below the impressive rock. About Nafplio
Nafplio is a seaside town in the Peloponnese, once the first capital of modern Greece, with Venetian lanes, a harbour fortress and a hilltop castle.
Nafplio sits on the Argolic Gulf in the north-eastern Peloponnese, a town of neoclassical mansions, Venetian houses and flower-hung balconies climbing from the waterfront. It was the first capital of modern Greece, from 1823 to 1834. The Bourtzi, a small castle on an islet, guards the harbour, and Palamidi, a Venetian fortress on a rock above the town, is reached by a long staircase or by road.
