About Varna
Varna is Bulgaria's chief Black Sea port and resort, with a long seaside garden, Roman baths and a museum holding prehistoric gold.
Varna lies on a wide bay and has been a harbour since Greek settlers founded Odessos here in the sixth century BC. The Archaeological Museum holds the treasure from a prehistoric cemetery found nearby, some of the oldest worked gold ever recovered, and the Roman Thermae, a large bath complex of the second and third centuries, stand in the old town.
