4. A pioneer of Buddhist monastery in Borobudur temple's area which was built in 1974, has great stories actualized by sculptures and decorative reliefs in the area. It is also a peaceful place to learn and practice meditation with Monks, surrounded by Muslim's village.

5. The earliest Buddhist temple in this area, built by Somaratungga King of Syailendra dinasty, who was the father of the princess who built Borobudur temple in 8th century. There is 3 meters Buddha statue and other two Boddhisatva with a unique sitting position as a king.

About Yogyakarta

Yogyakarta is the cultural heart of Java, a university city with a sultan's palace, batik workshops and the temples of Borobudur and Prambanan close by.

The sultan of Yogyakarta is also the region's governor, and his walled palace, the Kraton, is still lived in and holds a museum and a court gamelan orchestra. Close by, the Taman Sari water castle, once the royal pleasure garden, has pools and passageways, and Malioboro Street runs through the centre with shops, becak pedicabs and food stalls. The city is also famed for batik, silverwork and shadow-puppet theatre.
