Bathsheba, located on Barbados’ rugged east coast, is one of the island’s most scenic coastal villages, famous for its dramatic landscapes, powerful Atlantic waves, and distinctive coral rock formations. According to local tradition, the village was named after the biblical Bathsheba, whose legendary milk baths were said to resemble the white, foaming surf at the famous Soup Bowl. Today, Bathsheba is recognized internationally as one of Barbados’ top surfing destinations, attracting surfers from around the world with its strong Atlantic swells. The area is also popular with photographers, sightseers, and nature lovers who come to admire its breathtaking coastline and refreshing ocean breezes. Despite its popularity, Bathsheba has preserved the charm of a traditional Barbadian fishing village, with colorful seaside cottages and a peaceful atmosphere that showcases the island’s natural beauty and cultural heritage.
The Barbados Wildlife Reserve offers visitors the chance to experience the island’s wildlife in a peaceful, natural environment beneath towering mahogany trees. Historic red brick pathways, once part of Barbados’ sugar industry, add a unique historical charm to the reserve. Its most famous residents are the playful Barbados Green Monkeys, whose coats can appear green in certain light. Visitors can also see free-roaming tortoises, deer, peacocks, iguanas, parrots, and other native animals living in spacious surroundings. Ideal for families, photographers, and nature lovers, the reserve encourages guests to explore at a relaxed pace while learning about Barbados’ rich biodiversity and ongoing conservation efforts. Combining history, wildlife, and scenic beauty, it provides an enjoyable and educational experience for visitors of all ages.

4Great guide
Wear shoes that are stable for the reserve especially if it’s wet as the ground is uneven and slippy
5Excellent tour
Excellent tour and great value for money. The stop sites were excellent and the food was great. Stephen was an excellent host. I would definitely go again
5Must do!
This was the highlight of our trip! You’ve never had an experience like this. The tour group was small and personable, the guide outstanding, the monkeys plentiful and very, very, comfortable with close human engagement.
3No bad but over priced
Our guide, Ryan, provided an exceptional experience, and the Harrison Cave tour was thoroughly enjoyed. However, we were somewhat disappointed that direct interaction with the monkeys, specifically feeding them, was not permitted. We observed the monkeys being fed, and the natural beauty of Bathsheba was truly remarkable.
5Excellent tour
We really enjoyed this tour. We were picked up promptly at 8:25 and headed to Harrison’s Caves for the tram tour which was excellent and very informative. We got some great photos. Then we headed to the Barbados Wildlife Park to see the monkeys being fed which was really fun and we had time to look around the park at the animals. Drinks were offered at this stop too. Then we went to Bathsheba for lunch and to look around. The lunch was delicious and a good portion. Our guide was Glyne and he was excellent - he gave us lots of interesting information and was helpful and organised. He really made the trip enjoyable. Highly recommend.
5Great trip, value for money
Glyn was a great guide for the day and you could tell his passion for the island and giving you the best experience possible. Very good value for money and our 6 yr old enjoyed all aspects of the day. Harrison’s cave was a highlight.

About Diamond Valley
Diamond Valley lies in the south-east of Barbados, the easternmost Caribbean island, a coral island of sugar-cane fields, gentle hills and beaches.
Diamond Valley sits in the parish of St Philip, on the south-east side of Barbados, a coral-limestone island roughly 34 kilometres long and the easternmost of the Caribbean islands. Crane Beach, a wide beach of pale sand backed by cliffs, lies on this coast. The land is gently rolling, with sugar-cane fields, gullies cut into the limestone, and villages of painted wooden chattel houses. Calm beaches face the Caribbean Sea along the west coast, while the Atlantic side to the east is rougher, with strong surf and rocky headlands.
