Still a large shipping port, the city now receives many cruise ships. Pass the city's old quarter with a combination of historical and buildings under renovation. View Parque Vargas, the market and more.  2. Rain Forest  Visit Cahuita National Park for a up-close encounter with nature. The park has flat and easy walking trails with abundant wildlife such as monkeys, sloths, toucans and coatis. The trail is about 3/4 mile long and takes about 45 minutes at a slow pace. This is a great option for seniors, children or anyone who wants to take it easy. There is no mud or slippery paths. 3. Visit a Viewpoint of the city 4. About Limón

Limón is Costa Rica's main Caribbean port, an Afro-Caribbean city on a humid coast and the gateway to Tortuguero's canals and the Cahuita reef.

Puerto Limón is Costa Rica's principal Caribbean port, a cargo harbour and provincial capital where the coast curves beneath green hills and rain clouds. Many of its people descend from Jamaican and other West Indian workers who came in the nineteenth century to build the railway to San José, and their English-influenced Creole, music and cooking shape the city. Parque Vargas, a palm-shaded park, runs along the seafront.
