Walk through the rooms where he lived and worked, including the bright yellow dining room and blue-tiled kitchen, and learn how daily life shaped his artistic vision. Outside, stroll through the colorful flower garden and cross the famous Japanese bridge in the water garden that inspired the iconic Water Lilies series. About Giverny
Giverny is a small Normandy village in the Seine valley, where Claude Monet lived for over forty years and painted his water-lily pond and garden.
Claude Monet moved to Giverny in 1883 and lived there until his death in 1926. His pink house with green shutters, the flower-filled Clos Normand garden in front and the water garden with its Japanese bridge and lily pond beyond are preserved, and the pond was the subject of his late series of paintings. Monet is buried in the cemetery of the village church of Sainte-Radegonde.
