5Lovely staff
Our tour guide did an amazing job showing us around basel and was very receptive to what we were interested in and incorporated that into our plan for the tour.
5Excellent Basel Tour
Our quide, Franziska, did an excellent job of explaining the history of Basel and the main sites in Old Town. We had a short stay in Basel and this was a great way to learn more about the city. Franziska was very good in contacting us and communicating with us before the tour and was accomodating to our schedule when we had a minor schedule change.
2Thumbs Down
Watch the pricing on this tour. The front page on Viator says prices from $43.48. When I choose the date and indicated it was for two people I ended up getting charged $191.94. We toured Amsterdam and took a Viking River Cruise down the Rhine and experienced a host of tour guides. This one was defintely over priced and under whelming. Would not recommend to others. My wife had to constantly ask questions to get any information provided.
2A waste of money
Our guide was friendly and personable. It ended there as he met us and said “what do you want to see?” We told him we’d never been here so points of interest, some history and places he’d recommend. We meandered through parts of town and he’d point out buildings but then didn’t know anything really about them. We were his 2nd tour. He needs to learn some history about the area and have a plan.

We had a wonderful tour with Duygu! She went above and beyond, was very knowledgeable and helpful with suggestions of what to do after the tour. Highly recommend!

We had a fantastic tour of Basel! I cannot recommend this enough. Our guide was so kind, knowledgeable and personable. She even gave us tips for after our tour.

About Basel
Basel is a Swiss city on the Rhine where Switzerland meets France and Germany, with a red-sandstone old town, a Gothic minster and many art museums.
Basel sits on a bend of the Rhine at the point where Switzerland, France and Germany meet. Its old town climbs the left bank to Münsterplatz, where the Gothic Minster in red sandstone holds the tomb of the scholar Erasmus. The Town Hall on the Marktplatz is red too, with a painted façade, and the Middle Bridge links the old town to Kleinbasel. Small ferries pulled across the river by the current alone run between the banks.
