1. We depart early in the morning from Poltu Quatu, with “Vento” (the boat name). We navigate south, skirting the Costa Smeralda with its pink granite rocks and hidden bays. In about an hour, there it is: Tavolara, that limestone giant emerging from the sea like an ancient king, with its sheer cliffs and sea beds rich in dancing Posidonia grass underwater.
