The effect is hypnotic, the mellifluous tones increasing in volume when a boat or ferry passes by. You can swim from the steps off the promenade while listening to the sounds.

Zadar, on Croatia's Dalmatian coast, is an old Roman and Venetian town on a peninsula, known for its sea organ and the sunsets beside it.
The old town of Zadar sits on a narrow peninsula, bordered by Venetian walls and the Land Gate. The remains of a Roman forum lie beside the round church of St Donatus, a ninth-century building that is the best-known landmark.
