• 5Great challenge

  The communication was swift and timely. Pick up was early from our hotel next to the Plaza de Armas. Breakfast was simple but enough. We liked the stop at the viewpoint to see condors, was very impressive and positive way to start. Our guide, Jhersey, was very professional and helpful. He was not only very knowledgeable about Peru, culture, track - but also very considerate and understanding about different paces of people. We liked our accommodation (booked a private room with private shower) which was a big plus, considering how steep and challenging was the second days hike. In all honesty, we didn’t expect it would be so tough (we managed which was very gratifying), but it did require quite some energy and determination. Guide also made sure we were aware of the time, appointments and alternative options (you can choose to not to ascend yourself but go up with a mule instead for a price of 100 soles). We really enjoyed the breakfast, thermal baths and stops to see llamas, alpacas and volcanos on our way back. Tour was organized very smoothly. Recommend it, as well as our guide Jhersey who was amazing! Do be mindful that it is a challenging hike with steep elevation (make sure to acclimatize with heights before choosing to do the hike as you start at 2k+ m elevation , and on the second day climb above 3k+ m).

  Eric was a fantastic guide and made our trip to colca canyon the beta experience. He grew up in the area and knew a lot about the area and the hike. My boyfriend was a little ill and Eric took great care of him and motivated us to finish the trip. Absolutely recommend booking with baby llama and with guide Eric !!

About Arequipa

Arequipa, in southern Peru, is a white-stone colonial city beneath the cone of El Misti volcano, close to the deep Colca Canyon.

Arequipa lies at about 2,300 metres in the dry southern Andes, with the cone of El Misti volcano rising above it and Chachani and Pichu Pichu on either side. Its centre is built from sillar, a light volcanic stone that has earned it the name of the White City. The Plaza de Armas has arcades, palms and the cathedral, whose façade stretches the full length of one side.
