As the chapada is located close to Brasília, we recommend that you also take in the architectural masterpieces of the capital. The trip is designed for travellers who like hiking, but there is a good pace offering both walking and relaxation. The waterfalls are usually hidden at the end of the trails, so one can always take a dip in the fresh relaxing waters. Chapada dos Veadeiros is good to visit year round. In June there is an amazing festival called Encontro de Culturas which we highly recommend.

About Brasília
Brasília, Brazil's capital, was built from nothing in the 1950s on the high central plateau and is famed for its modernist architecture.
Brasília was planned by Lúcio Costa, with its main buildings designed by Oscar Niemeyer, and opened as the capital in 1960. The plan is laid out in the shape of an aeroplane or a bird in flight, with ministries lined up along the Esplanada and, at its heart, the National Congress, a pair of towers between two domes. The city's plan is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
