  Our guide, Misty, was very personable and informative. We learned more about the area than we ever expected. The views were beautiful and she made a reservation (for 10) at a great restaurant where we ate fresh seafood. It was a wonderful day.

  For much of the drive we could not see the coastline. 3 or 4 bathroom stops. About 4 stops with a view, one of which had a short walk might have been better if fall colors were at their peak.

Cape Breton Island, the northern part of Nova Scotia, is a rugged island of highlands, ocean cliffs and lakes, with strong Gaelic and Acadian roots.

Cape Breton Island forms the north-eastern part of Nova Scotia, joined to the mainland by the Canso Causeway. At its centre lies Bras d'Or Lake, a large inland sea of sheltered coves, and its northern plateau is protected as Cape Breton Highlands National Park, where the Cabot Trail loops along cliffs and over mountains above the Gulf of St Lawrence and the Atlantic.
