A brief introduction to Georgian History and Culture A visit to the historical Sulphur Bath District Ancient Narikala Fortress overlooking Tbilisi City
We begin our tour on foot exploring the old streets in the historical neighbourhood in Tbilisi. We continue to Metekhi Square and witness the monument of Vakhtang Gorgasali, the founder of Tbilisi and its surrounding overlooking the famous 19th century houses with wooden balconies and the ancient fortress. Take a cable car to Narikala Fortress and enjoy the amazing view of the city. We continue to walk down and visit the Sulphur bath district, an important historic part of the city — the place, where according to a legend, Vakhtang Gorgasali’s falcon fell, leading to a discovery of the hot springs and, subsequently, to founding of a new capital

Tbilisi, Georgia's capital, spills along a river gorge beneath a fortress, mixing balconied old houses, sulphur baths and bold modern landmarks.
The old town gathers along the Mtkvari River, its narrow streets lined with carved wooden balconies, churches and wine bars. Abanotubani, the bath district, is crowned by brick domes over sulphur springs, and the walls of Narikala Fortress overlook it all, reached by cable car or a steep walk. The Mother of Georgia statue stands on the ridge holding a sword and a bowl of wine.
