After we leave the port in Koper, we will head up into the hills above, towards a village, called Marezige. It is just a short 10 km (6 mi) drive away and your guide will keep you entertained introducing you to Slovenia, while you will be able to take in the Mediterranean views of vineyards and olive groves on the way. Marezige is the cradle of “refošk”, the most typical wine from this region which has been around since the Roman times.

About Koper

Koper, on Slovenia's short Adriatic coast, is a port town with a Venetian-style old centre, close to salt pans, Istrian hills and Trieste.

Koper stands on Slovenia's small stretch of the Adriatic, on the northern side of the Istrian peninsula, as a working port with a compact old town. For centuries it was a Venetian possession called Capodistria, and its main square, Tito Square, is framed by the Praetorian Palace, the loggia and the cathedral, whose tower can be climbed for a view of the bay. The cathedral holds a painting by Carpaccio.
