Höjdpunkter
Kazakhstan, was one of the transcontinental constituent republics of the Soviet Union from 1936 to 1991. You will visit Karaganda, the city in 200km from Astana where you still may see Soviet architecture and spirit. The tour includes the visit of Karlag museum of political repression victims, one of the largest Gulag labor camps with 800,000 inmates served in total over its history. And it is an essential part of understanding the people and culture of Kazakhstan. It is a very sobering experience and exhibits repression in many forms

About Nur-Sultan
Astana, which carried the name Nur-Sultan from 2019 to 2022, is Kazakhstan's capital, a young city of futuristic towers on the open steppe.
Astana stands on the Ishim River in the middle of the Kazakh steppe, a flat, wind-swept landscape that brings it very cold winters. It replaced Almaty as the capital in 1997, and the city has grown quickly since, with government buildings and towers designed by architects from around the world. The Baiterek, a tall tower topped by a golden sphere, is its emblem, and the city's planned layout crosses the river.
