Penang is a Malaysian island off the north-west coast, with the heritage streets of George Town, clan jetties, street art, temples and famous hawker food.
Penang island sits off the north-west coast of peninsular Malaysia, joined to the mainland by two bridges. George Town, founded by the British in 1786, is a World Heritage city of shophouses, mansions and temples built by Chinese, Indian, Malay and European communities.
