2. The Glacier Express is one of Switzerland’s most famous scenic rail journeys, known for its panoramic views and relaxed pace through the heart of the Alps. Between Brig and Chur, the train climbs from the Rhône Valley to the high Alpine landscapes of the Oberalp Pass, the highest point of the route at 2,033 meters. The landscape here reflects classic mountain terrain shaped by glaciers, with open slopes, rocky ridges, and distant snow-covered summits. Higher lifts reach the Vorab Glacier, where snow and ice remain even in warmer seasons. Panoramic terraces, short walking paths, and mountain restaurants allow visitors to enjoy the fresh air and scenery comfortably, offering a memorable high-altitude experience without strenuous hiking.
