Ablauf

1. Just outside the walled city of Valletta, one will find the Triton fountain, recently restored to its former glory. Walk over the bridge of the walled city moat and see the contrast between old and new architecture within the city as you come across the Parliament building. Meanwhile your guide will provide you with detailed explanations of your surroundings.

2. Stroll around Republic Street and Merchant street, Valletta's two main roads which run parallel to one another. Admire the ruins of the Royal Opera House. Learn about the history and understand who occupied Malta at different periods in time, while admiring the auberges and buildings as you pass.

3. The unique St John's Co Cathedral is not to be missed. The walls, ceilings and floor are beautifully ordained with gold leaf, marble and rich tapestries. The Cathedral is also home to famous paintings by the great Caravaggio. As you walk around the building, your guide will provide you with ample information of what you are seeing.

4. Walk around St George's square & republic square and learn about the Palace with it's traditional balconies.

5. Visit one of Valletta's most prominent buildings as your guide provides you with a detailed background on the Knight's of St John

6. Enjoy a stroll around the beautiful Upper Barrakka Gardens, which boasts beautiful views of the Grand harbour and fortifications. Your guide will talk about the surroundings, history and culture of Malta.

7. Cross over to Birgu the fortified city opposite Valletta by boat and admire the Grand Harbour and fortifications

8. Walk through Couvre Porte entrance to the city of Birgu

9. See the exterior of the Inquisitors Palace and learn about the inquisition and the Knight's of St John.

10. Walk through the area known as Il Collachio comprising of narrow streets and beautiful auberges

11. Walk along the waterfront and admire the fortifications of Fort St Angelo. Built by the Knight's of St John to protect the island against invaders.

12. Admire the picturesque church of St Lawrence. If the church is open, one can even spend a few moments to visit the interior of the church
