You can see Bai ethnic women wearing brightly colored ethnic costumes, busily doing handicrafts in front of their homes. The temples and Taoist temples in the ancient town are also a major feature. Among them, the most famous one is Xingjiao Temple, which is one of the relatively well-preserved ancient Bai ethnic group temples in China at present. In Shaxi Ancient Town, the food is also a highlight. There are a wide variety of local specialty foods that make people's mouths water. There are many teahouses in the ancient town. About Dali
Dali is an old walled town in Yunnan between the Cangshan mountains and Erhai Lake, home of the Bai people and of the three pagodas of Chongsheng Temple.
Dali lies on a plateau in north-west Yunnan, between the 4,000-metre ridge of the Cangshan range and the long blue Erhai Lake. The old town has Ming-style walls, cobbled lanes and Bai houses with whitewashed walls and carved eaves, while the three pagodas of Chongsheng Temple, dating from the ninth to the eleventh centuries, are the symbol of the region. Dali was the heart of the Nanzhao and Dali kingdoms until the Mongol conquest of 1253.
