Highlights
An experience to live our traditions and know the origins of our cuisine in the typical Apulia buildings: i trulli surrounded by a peaceful nature. The art of making the orecchiette (our traditional pasta) is part of a ritual made also of soil and wind, a time in the countryside, slowly spent for preparing our lunch collecting wild herbs, fruits, tomatoes, melons and all that our organic garden seasonaly produce. The same slow time lived by our grandmothers to prepare the daily lunch for all the family. At home, a pastry board, the flour and the wind will be the simple ingredients to make our Orecchiette. We will learn to do this particular pasta, its variations and many other secrets will be revealed. We will then partecipate to prepare meat sauce, vegetables and cheese and all necessary for lunch. We will taste all our preparations.

5Genuine cooking experience in rural Puglia
This was a fantastic experience. We got to see the traditional way of cooking in rural Puglia and Simona is a wonderful host. She instantly made us feel at home and our 14 year old son immediately connected with her and took part in the cooking with great enthusiasm. I would recommend to anyone to book this experience to capture the real essence of cooking in Puglia.
5Highlight our three weeks in Italia!
We had a wonderful time in this workshop! Simona was fun, energetic and very informative about pasta regional traditions. Very hands on guidance on pasta technique as we made orecchiette. We also made, with her guidance a traditional Puglian Sunday lunch. It was a full meal with lovely company. She also showed us her trulli house and taught the history behind it. I highly recommend this workshop and would attend any other classes she offered.
5Unrivalled passion and warmth.
This was genuinely one of the best experiance in my life. Simona’s passion and knowledge of Italian cuisine is impressive. As a host she is warm, funny and makes you feel at home. The pasta and food we made was traditional, simple, and absolutely delicious. I could happily have stayed for days to try and absorb more of her food things and tips. There is no way you could go to this class and not come away a better cook. PS - don’t cook Carbonara with spaghetti or you will be chastised.
5A great way to learn how to make pasta and also hear about Puglian history
Can highly recommend this. Simona, as well as showing us how to make lots of different pasta shapes, advised on what pasta you should use with different meat, fish, sauces etc. She also gave us a history lesson on Puglia/southern Italy which was interesting. Plus as she lives in a Trullo, she showed us around it, told us why and how it was built, lived in by previous owners over the last few hundred years. And then we got to eat the pasta and sauces we made, with wine and other dishes provided. A great way to spend 4-5 hours in a group with 12 people max, and excellent value for money.
5Fantastic pasta making workshop with very welcoming hosts!
Simona made us feel very relaxed and shared her passion for cooking and taught us the difference between regions in Italy. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would highly recommend.
5It was great, Simona was...
It was great, Simona was lovely, welcomed us into her home, taught us about this history and culture of puglian food and gave us a tour of her Trullo.

About Taranto
Taranto is a naval port in Puglia on the Ionian Sea, with an old town on an island, a Spartan-founded past, a rich archaeology museum and a mussel coast.
Taranto was founded as Taras by Spartan settlers around 706 BC and became one of the richest cities of Magna Graecia. The old town sits on a small island between two seas, the open Mar Grande and the enclosed Mar Piccolo, linked to the mainland by a swing bridge. Its Aragonese castle, built in the fifteenth century, guards the channel, and the Cathedral of San Cataldo stands among narrow lanes.
