The National Assembly is the legislative body of Serbia, where parliamentary sessions and official government functions are held. Housed in an elegant neoclassical building, it serves as the seat of local government, where decisions regarding urban planning, cultural development, and public services are made.
Trg republike (Republic Square) is one of the most famous and central squares in Belgrade, serving as a major meeting point and cultural hub for both locals and tourists. Dominated by the iconic statue of Prince Mihailo on horseback, the square is surrounded by some of the city's most important landmarks, including the National Museum and the National Theatre. It’s a lively area, often hosting public events, performances, and exhibitions.
Skadarlija is Belgrade’s famous bohemian quarter, known for its charming cobblestone streets, traditional restaurants (known as kafane), and vibrant artistic atmosphere. Often compared to Paris's Montmartre, this historic neighborhood was once the meeting place for poets, writers, and artists in the early 20th century.

It was once the cultural and intellectual heart of the city, home to Serbia’s first printing press and the National Library (tragically destroyed in World War II). Strolling through Kosančićev venac, visitors can enjoy the unique atmosphere of a neighborhood rich in history, art, and heritage, as well as its proximity to the Belgrade Fortress and Savamala district.
Belgrade Fortress is one of the most iconic landmarks in Serbia, located at the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers. The fortress has stood for centuries, witnessing the city’s rich and turbulent history. Within its ancient walls, visitors can explore a mix of historical monuments, museums, and green spaces that are part of the surrounding Kalemegdan Park. Highlights include the Victor Monument, offering panoramic views over the rivers, and remnants of Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman architecture.

About Belgrade
Belgrade is Serbia's capital at the meeting of the Sava and the Danube, a city of a vast fortress, café-lined boulevards and nightlife on the river.
Belgrade stands where the Sava meets the Danube, and the old Kalemegdan Fortress occupies the ridge above the confluence, with walls, gates and a park that looks over both rivers. Knez Mihailova, the pedestrian main street, runs from the fortress to Republic Square. The Temple of Saint Sava, one of the largest Orthodox churches in the world, has a white marble dome.
Top-ranked sights in Belgrade: Petrovaradin Fortress (Petrovaradinska Tvrdjava), Belgrade Fortress (Beogradska Tvrdava), Danube River.
