  1. Broadway Market, located in the heart of Fells Point, is one of the first public markets in Baltimore, dating back to 1786. One of six remaining public markets left in Baltimore, the markets were once the city’s major source of food for the growing city. In the early days the market yards were equipped with stalls, barns and a weighing platform to accommodate the livestock the farmers brought into town to sell. On market days farmers came to Fell’s Point by wagon, boat, and ferry from nearby counties seeking an outlet for their products. Broadway Market, the oldest of the existing markets in Baltimore, has a long tradition of serving the residents of Fell’s Point and Baltimore.

  • 5A Great Culinary Adventure in Fells Point. Amazing experience in history and food.

It’s delicious food in wonderful restaurants. Our guide, Mary Margaret, was informative, patient and greatly enhanced the experience. So fun to try new foods that are local to Baltimore. Well worth the cost and time.

  • 5Book this tour!

If you're on the edge deciding whether or not to book this - book it! And hope Mary Margaret is your guide. She was so friendly and made a sincere effort to connect with each of the 5 couples on our tour. She gave great information on the history and development of the Fells Point area was able to answer all of the historical questions we asked. And the food selection was great (and I live in a big foodie city, so I don't consider myself super easy to impress with food). We had two people with food allergies on our tour and they received allergin-free substitutes as needed. As other reviews mentioned, you do not need to eat beforehand, and you will not need to go out to dinner after. My husband and I were both still full when we went to bed at 10 pm! This tour makes me want to do a food tour on every vacation I take in the future - my only worry is that other tours won't live up to the high standard this one set.

About Baltimore

Baltimore, Maryland's port city on the Chesapeake Bay, is a city of brick rowhouses, harbourside museums and a fort that inspired the national anthem.

Baltimore, a long-time port on the Patapsco River near the Chesapeake Bay, spreads around its Inner Harbor, where an aquarium, tall ships and a science museum sit beside a promenade. Fort McHenry, at the harbour's mouth, was bombarded by British ships in September 1814 and inspired Francis Scott Key to write the Star-Spangled Banner. Nearby, the cobbled waterfront of Fells Point is lined with eighteenth-century buildings, pubs and restaurants.

Top-ranked sights in Baltimore: Canton, Fell’s Point, Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine.
