With a state-certified guide, you can get to grips with it very quickly by following our instructions. We will leave from the Bayonne tourist office to go up the Bank by the towpaths. About Bayonne
Bayonne is a Basque city where the Nive meets the Adour, known for its Gothic cathedral, cured ham, chocolate and a summer festival of white and red.
Bayonne grew where the Nive flows into the Adour, a few kilometres from the Atlantic, in the French Basque Country. The Gothic cathedral of Sainte-Marie rises over Grand Bayonne, the oldest quarter, while across the Nive the lanes of Petit Bayonne are lined with timbered houses and coloured shutters. Vauban's ramparts circle the city.
