  • 5Daintree Tropical Tour. The land equivalent of swimming on the Reef.

Port Douglas is at the meeting point of 2 UNESCO World Heritage sites. Most people have heard of the Barrier Reef but fewer have heard of the Daintree Forest. Tony’s tropical tours is the ideal way to visit the forest and is the land equivalent of swimming on the barrier reef. We were in a small group of 10 people lead by our guide Adam. He was so knowledgeable about the region having lived in the area all his life. His passion for the forest and protecting the natural habitat was evident and the detail with which he explained about the flora and fauna was exceptional. He also added loads of fun to the day with funny stories about events from the region. One of the highlights is the crocodile observing boat trip and we were lucky enough to see several in their natural environment. The ideal time to see them is in the winter/spring when they are on the bank or swimming around. In summer they keep cool at the bottom of the river so you won’t see them. Another highlight was the forest walks learning about the plants and animals that have evolved in the region. Adam was keen to explain in detail the importance of the Cassowary bird which spreads tropical seeds around so the forest may survive. Without the bird many trees could not germinate. Unfortunately we were not lucky enough to see one. Lunch was excellent and the Icecream stop is a nice way to end the day. Big thank you to Adam for providing such an excellent tour.

  • 5Best guide

The guide, Chris, was knowledgeable, funny, and friendly. He made the excursion ten times better. The pacing was great and locations were wonderful. Personally, I didn’t care for the river cruise part but this was an amazing experience overall.

  • 5Fantastic Experience!

This tour was absolutely wonderful - we had a great time together. Our tour guide, Chris, was incredibly knowledgeable about all things rainforest (and every other topic as well to be honest…) and he ensured that we had a fantastic time. We loved the banter, his stories and overall the atmosphere within the group. My teenage daughters even enjoyed themselves and we all know how tricky this crowd is to please :D For lunch you could choose between a selection of meals - I had the barramundi with salad, bread and potato salad - it was delicious and freshly cooked. Would absolutely recommend!

  • 5Tony's tropical tour exceeded expectations

My family and I had a wonderful time on our tour, pickup was included from our accomodation and the group size was nice and small. Our guide Randall was great, very informative about all the places we visited, and managed to spot us some incredible Boyd's forest dragons. The day felt full but not rushed, and I would definitely recommend to anyone visiting the area with a limited time.

  • 5Exceptional!

We were so lucky to have Ash as our tour guide. He was incredibly knowledgeable and made us laugh with his quick witted humour. The Daintree was incredibly beautiful and we were glad we got to experience this beautiful part of Australia.

About Port Douglas

Port Douglas is a relaxed seaside town on Queensland's tropical coast, set between the Daintree rainforest and the Great Barrier Reef.

Port Douglas began as a gold-rush port in the 1870s and is now an easygoing resort town on a spit of land between the Coral Sea and Dickson Inlet. Four Mile Beach curves away to the north fringed with palms, Macrossan Street holds the cafés and restaurants, and Flagstaff Hill gives a view over the beach and the mountains behind. A small white chapel, St Mary's by the Sea, stands beside the park at the water's edge.

Top-ranked sights in Port Douglas: Mossman Gorge, Daintree Rainforest, Agincourt Reefs.
