This tour takes you into the turbulent past of Rijeka, and not just anywhere but exactly to the locations where that past took place. The focal point of the tour is a series of under- and above-ground fortresses that were built in the 30s of the 20th century as the defense of the then borders. With their construction and location, the fortresses are a masterpiece of military engineering of their era. The tour ends in the entrance hall of the unfinished underground fortress San Giovanni with socializing, a glass of wine and screening of a short film about the restoration of Rijeka after the Second World War. About Rovinj

Rovinj is an Istrian fishing town on a small peninsula, with a hilltop church, Venetian-style houses and a coast of islets and pine forest.

Rovinj's old town stands on an oval peninsula, once an island, with narrow cobbled lanes winding up to the baroque church of St Euphemia, whose bell tower, modelled on St Mark's in Venice, rises above the sea. Pastel houses crowd around the harbour, and the Balbi Arch marks one of the old gates. Venice ruled the town for five centuries, and Italian remains in daily use beside Croatian.
