  1. Haedong Yonggungsa is a breathtaking temple located on the coast of Busan, making it one of the most unique temples in South Korea. Founded in 1376, this temple stands out from others that are typically nestled in the mountains, as it is situated right by the sea, offering a completely different atmosphere. The temple's name, which translates to "East Sea Dragon Palace Temple," is rooted in a legend that a dragon ascended from the sea to bring divine energy to the area. One of the temple's most captivating features is the harmonious blend of the temple's architecture with the stunning coastal scenery. To reach the temple, visitors must descend 108 steps, and as they do, they are greeted by a breathtaking view of the sea. Haedong Yonggungsa is especially famous as a prime spot to watch the sunrise, with many visitors arriving early in the morning to witness the spectacular scene of the sun rising over the East Sea, casting its golden light over the temple.

  7. This market has a fascinating history, starting after the Korean War when women who had fled the conflict began selling fish to support their families. What began as a modest endeavor has since transformed into one of Korea's most iconic fish markets, famous for its incredible variety of seafood, impressive size, and spotless cleanliness. Visitors are in for a treat as they can handpick the freshest catch and have it prepared on the spot at local restaurants, savoring delicacies like sashimi or grilled fish in the most authentic and flavorful way. Adding to the market's charm is its lively slogan in the Busan dialect: "Oiso (come), Boiso (see), Saiso (buy)." 8. Step inside a massive, repurposed shipyard warehouse where the salty breeze of Busan’s port meets the aroma of world-class specialty coffee. Momos Roastery & Coffee Bar isn’t just a cafe—it’s the headquarters of Jooyeon Jeon, the first Korean World Barista Champion. Watch 20-foot coffee silos and high-tech roasters in action through floor-to-ceiling glass, all while massive cargo ships pass by just outside the window. Whether you’re sipping their signature "Momos Candy" espresso or a rare pour-over, you’re tasting the "Golden Standard" of Korean coffee culture in its most raw, industrial-chic setting. Pro Tip: Don’t leave without a bag of their "Busan" blend—it’s the ultimate stylish souvenir from the heart of the harbor.

  9. Gamcheon Culture Village is a place where the rich history of post-war refugees and vibrant modern culture come together. Originally built by those who fled to Busan during the Korean War, the village was once a collection of modest, makeshift houses on steep hillsides. Over time, it has evolved into a lively cultural destination while preserving the traces of its past. Visitors can wander through the narrow alleyways and maze-like streets, discovering the village’s unique architecture and gaining insight into the lives of its early inhabitants. The biggest charm of Gamcheon Culture Village is its visually striking beauty, with colorful houses that look like stacked LEGO blocks. Landmarks such as the "Little Prince and the Fox" statue overlooking the village, and murals of BTS members Jimin and Jungkook, are popular attractions for fans and tourists alike. Gamcheon Culture Village blends art, history, and vibrant culture, offering visitors a unique and unforgettable experience.

  • 5Best customized travel guide

Completely customizable itinerary that led us to the east and west of Busan. Thousand was a great and engaging guide, with tons of personality and stories about Busan. As a local resident, he has a true passion for his city and is knowledgeable about so many details and tips. His car was brand new and he was an incredible driver as well. We were comfortable the whole day and we learned so many new customs and cuisines and discovered new sights and experiences.

  • 5Big hug to Mimi

We had a fantastic guided tour with Mimi (Han Mi-hyang) in Busan today. We got to know the different districts very well and Mimi's rich knowledge of places, culture and daily life. We were two couples, one who only spoke Korean and us who only spoke English. Both couples were very pleased. Absolutely a pleasure.

  • 4Busy busy Busan!

Busan is a bustling and busy city, and very spread out. We unfortunately had booked on a Saturday and a holiday weekend. So not only did we have to deal with tourists, but locals as well, at all the sights we visited. It was therefore busy and overwhelming at times, particularly at the temple and the Cultural Village. Our favourite thing we did was the cable car crossing. Our guide, Brian, did his best and gave us information, but we were left waiting long periods when he had to look for parking. Not his fault, but a bit annoying. A very comfortable van to transfer us, and we loved crossing the very impressive bridges.

A fantastic personal guided tour in a very comfortable SUV. We were coming off a cruise ship and met by our guide at the port and personally driven around to visit all the main sights. So much more enjoyable than a coach trip! We would highly recommend.

About Busan

Busan is South Korea's second city and biggest port, with beaches, hillside villages, temples by the sea and a huge fish market.

Busan lies at the south-east tip of the Korean peninsula, a port city squeezed between mountains and the sea. Haeundae Beach and Gwangalli Beach, backed by high-rise towers, are its best-known stretches of sand. Gamcheon Culture Village, a hillside of colourful stepped houses, was settled by refugees during the Korean War, and the UN Memorial Cemetery in Korea honours soldiers who died in that conflict.

Top-ranked sights in Busan: Gamcheon Culture Village, Jagalchi Fish Market, Haedong Yonggungsa Temple.
