4. We go to the top of Monchique Mountain. Fóia is 902 meters high and offers a unique view of the entire region. Here we will also find an exhibition of craftsmanship of monchique artisans.

5. Let's stop in the village of Monchique and see the view from the belvedere. Then we walk to the central square where we will taste the famous firewater "Medronho".

About Lagos

Lagos is a walled Algarve port with golden sea cliffs, sheltered coves, a gilded baroque church and a history of Portuguese navigators.

Lagos lies on the western Algarve coast, where the River Bensafrim meets the Atlantic. Its old town is enclosed by 16th-century walls and has narrow lanes, whitewashed houses and the small Santo António church, whose interior is a mass of gilded baroque carving. Explorers sailed from the harbour in the 15th century in the age of Henry the Navigator, and a statue of the prince stands in the square. The former Slave Market recalls a dark chapter of the Age of Discovery.
