Højdepunkter

A learning tour like no other. You will improve your knowledge of photography by learning from a pro with 40 years of experience, while at the same time hearing about the unique landscape, history, and culture of Central Italy. Within half an hour of Orvieto you can see mountains, lakes, deep gorges, medieval and Renaissance hill towns, waterfalls, Roman remains, even ghost towns abandoned for over 400 years. Many of the places are not in the guidebooks and would be hard to find without a knowledgeable guide. Patrick has lived in Orvieto for 20 years and speaks fluent Italian.

About Orvieto

Orvieto is a hill town on a cliff of volcanic rock in Umbria, with a mosaic-fronted Gothic cathedral, underground caves and a long winemaking tradition.

Orvieto stands on a flat-topped plug of volcanic tuff, with sheer cliffs around it, above the Paglia valley in southern Umbria. Its cathedral, begun in 1290, has a Gothic façade of gold mosaics and spires, and inside the San Brizio chapel Luca Signorelli painted his vast Last Judgment around the turn of the sixteenth century. The Torre del Moro, a clock tower in the old streets, gives a long view across the roofs.

Top-ranked sights in Orvieto: Orvieto Cathedral (Duomo di Orvieto), St. Patrick’s Well (Pozzo di San Patrizio), Pozzo della Cava.
