About Sihanoukville

Sihanoukville is Cambodia's main seaport, a coastal city on the Gulf of Thailand with sandy beaches and boats to forested islands.

Sihanoukville was planned in the 1950s as Cambodia's deep-water port and named after Norodom Sihanouk. It lies on a peninsula on the Gulf of Thailand, with low hills behind a coast of long beaches. The port still handles much of the country's sea trade, and the city has grown quickly with hotels and new building along the shore.
