  • 5Well, adapted informative tour

Easy meeting point with photo. Kibi adjusted our your slightly, as we had seen the markets and we're going to Freddie Mercury, the following day on our own. You should take the opportunity of a roof top coffee (cocktail or beer) when offered. He filled a wonderful 3 hour tour with lots of information about the history and Stone town in excellent English.

  • 5Very informative tour of Stonetown

We had an excellent walking tour today with Nassor. He arrived early at our hotel on the edge of Stonetown and accompanied us for 3 hours. He speaks good English and taught us some Swahili words. He had a very good grasp of the complicated history of Zanzibar and Tanzania. We also learned about the makeup of the current population, including religion and politics. We recommend this walking tour, especially upon first arrival in town.

  • 5Great Tour Guide- best in all of Stone Town

The tour of Stone town with Mohammed was AMAZING!! The best tour experience I have ever had - Mohammed was so knowledgeable about everything and we learnt so much about stone towns history and present it was so interesting to hear the stories behind the buildings and the life that existed in the town before - he also made us feel very safe and comfortable during our tour and gave us tips on how to bargain and we got to say hi to the local and he gave us great recommendations for places to eat etc - it was honestly fabulous 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Highly recommend and would send all my friends to tour with Mohammed. The Tour was also very reasonably priced compared to others on the market, and we had the choice of paying for admission into any of the museums we were eager to see, would recommend the former slave market as you get to learn a lot about Zanzibar’s history during that era. Muhammad also waited when I wanted to stop to buy things and also when I wanted to take picture and would help translate for me when I wanted to chat to the locals! A massive thank you to Mohammed.

  • 5Excellent Stone Town Walking Tour with Rakib

We had a fantastic walking tour of Stone Town with our guide, Rakib! He was incredibly knowledgeable and informative, sharing fascinating history, culture, and stories that brought Stone Town to life. His enthusiasm and passion for the city made the experience even more enjoyable. What made the tour especially great was that it was just the four of us, which allowed Rakib to customize the itinerary around our interests. He was very attentive to what we wanted to see and made sure we had the opportunity to explore the places that interested us most. He was engaging, super friendly, and a pleasure to spend time with. We thoroughly enjoyed discovering Stone Town with him and came away with a much deeper appreciation for this unique and fascinating place. If you’re visiting Stone Town, we highly recommend booking a walking tour with Rakib. You won’t be disappointed! Five stars all the way! Thank you, Rakib, for such a memorable experience!

About Zanzibar City

Zanzibar City is the main town of Zanzibar island, and its old Stone Town of carved doors and narrow lanes carries Swahili, Arab and Indian history.

Stone Town is the old heart of Zanzibar City, a maze of narrow lanes, coral-stone houses and carved wooden doors, shaped by centuries of Arab, Indian, Persian and European traders. The House of Wonders, the Old Fort and the Sultan's Palace face the seafront, and Forodhani Gardens fills with food stalls at dusk. The Anglican cathedral stands on the site of a former slave market, with a sobering memorial nearby.
