In the interior we will find the beautiful polychrome murals with the representation of the main God called: Ai-Paec, also known as the “Decapitator.” We walk to the Ceremonial Plaza to observe the stepped facade with enigmatic reliefs in color.

Chan Chan was the political and administrative capital of the Chimu Kingdom.Its original extension covered about 24 km2, nowadays the area has been reduced to 14 Km2, that is why is considered “The World’s largest Mud Brick City ” On November 28, 1986 , Chan Chan was declared “World Heritage” by UNESCO.

These fishing boats were so important, they were represented on the ceramic and the walls of Chan Chan.

About Trujillo

Trujillo is a colonial city on Peru's north coast, with colourful mansions, the vast adobe ruins of Chan Chan and the reed-boat beach of Huanchaco.

Trujillo lies on Peru's arid northern coast, founded by the Spanish in 1534, and its centre keeps a grid of colonial streets around the Plaza de Armas. Pastel-painted mansions with wrought-iron balconies and carved window grilles face the plaza, beside the cathedral, and the city is called the City of Eternal Spring for its mild, sunny climate. The marinera, an elegant courtship dance, is celebrated here in a national festival.
