Often called Armenia’s Switzerland, Dilijan is a charming spa town surrounded by green forests and alpine meadows. Stroll through the Old Dilijan Complex, where restored 19th-century houses showcase local architecture, handicrafts, and traditional workshops. The fresh mountain air and peaceful atmosphere make Dilijan a perfect first stop.
Hidden deep in the Dilijan National Park, the Haghartsin Monastery (10th–13th centuries) is one of Armenia’s spiritual treasures. Surrounded by dense forest, its stone churches and khachkars (cross-stones) create a mystical atmosphere. According to legend, “hagh” means play and “artsin” means eagle, because eagles were once seen flying above the monastery during its construction and lunch at local restaurant (lunch price is not included)
Perched on a peninsula overlooking Lake Sevan, Sevanavank (9th century) offers breathtaking panoramic views. Originally built on an island (before Soviet water engineering lowered the lake’s level), the monastery was once a spiritual retreat for monks and a key cultural center of Armenia.
Known as the “Pearl of Armenia,” Lake Sevan is one of the largest high-altitude freshwater lakes in the world. Relax by its shores, take stunning photos, or taste Armenia’s famous Sevan trout in one of the local restaurants.

About Tbilisi
