Enjoy a full day tour of the DDay Landings with a thorough visit of Omaha Beach and the American Cemetery, as well as Pointe du Hoc. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to learn about the 1944 Normandy battlefields. Your experienced driver-guide will provide maps and all relevant information of what happened there. A guided tour of the D-Day beaches in Normandy becomes something far more powerful than just visiting historic sites when it’s led by a local expert guide. What makes it truly unique is the human depth they bring to the landscape. Note that we have a 2-hour drive to come from Rouen as well as the same return drive so there's a limited amount of sites that we can do, but it will be conducted in a way that will give you the full scale of the D-Day invasion. We pick you up in Rouen at your hotel, private address, or at your Viking cruise ship.

Omaha Beach was part of the invasion area assigned to the U.S. First Army, under Lieutenant General Omar Bradley. The assault sectors at Omaha were code-named (from west to east) Charlie, Dog (consisting of Green, White, and Red sections), Easy (Green and Red sections), and Fox (Green and Red sections). We will have one on Omaha Beach, at either Vierville, St Laurent and/or Colleville.

Pointe du Hoc is a high point between two of the five D-Day landing beaches, Utah and Omaha. It is renowned for the daring assault conducted on 6 June 1944 by the 2nd U.S. Ranger Battalion to neutralize the German artillery battery there.

About Rouen

Rouen is the historic capital of Normandy on the Seine, a city of half-timbered streets, a great Gothic cathedral and the memory of Joan of Arc.

Rouen stands on a bend of the Seine, and its streets hold many half-timbered houses leaning over cobbled lanes. The Gothic cathedral, with its lacy west front, was painted by Claude Monet in a long series of canvases, each in a different light. The Gros-Horloge, a Renaissance arch carrying a big astronomical clock, spans the main street.
