  1. A qualified instructor will meet you at beach access #16, located at 4400 Gulf Blvd., South Padre Island, Texas. There you will learn a series of techniques for building and carving a better sandcastle. This is hands-on instruction, and in 1 hour you will have a completed (or mostly completed) sand castle, perfect for a family photo op.

Neptune Circle (Beach Access #16) is located just north of Suntide II, 4400 Gulf Blvd). There is limited parking at the access, but you can also park along Gulf Blvd. Your instructor will be carrying a shovel and some buckets and wearing a black or white "sandyfeet" shirt.

South Padre Island is a barrier island at the southern tip of Texas, with wide Gulf beaches, shallow lagoons, dolphins and sea turtles.

South Padre Island is a narrow barrier island at the southern tip of Texas, a short distance from the Mexican border, with the Gulf of Mexico on one side and the shallow Laguna Madre on the other. A causeway crosses the lagoon from Port Isabel, a small fishing town with a lighthouse of the 1850s that can be climbed, and the beach runs for miles of pale sand.
