Just a short walk away stands the smaller but equally beautiful Temple of Queen Nefertiti, dedicated to the goddess Hathor and Rameses's beloved wife. The façade features six statues — four of the king and two of the queen — showing the rare honor given to a royal woman in ancient Egypt. Travelers can also enjoy stunning views of Lake Nasser, where the temples were carefully relocated in the 1960s to protect them from flooding after the construction of the Aswan High Dam
