  2. After that you will make a stop at the monastery of Haghartsin, dating back to the 10th-14th centuries. The name is translated as “the play of the eagle”. The scenery is somewhat similar to a stunning work of art, with both the monastery and the nature surrounding it providing a breathtaking view. It is one of those spots in Armenia that feels like a breathtaking unreal movie set. The refectory of Haghartsin is considered the biggest amongst Armenian Church architecture; it was an absolute innovation of its time! If you are curious as to why, there will be nothing better than seeing it for yourself!

  3. Dilijan Old Town, located in the town of Dilijan in Armenia’s Tavush Province, is a charming historic area known for its well-preserved traditional Armenian architecture. The streets are lined with wooden houses, cobblestone paths, and artisan shops, giving visitors a sense of the town’s 19th–20th century character. Often called the “Armenian Switzerland,” Dilijan Old Town is surrounded by lush forests and offers a peaceful, scenic atmosphere.

    30 min

  4. Lake Sevan is the largest freshwater lake in Armenia and one of the largest high-altitude lakes in the world, located in the Gegharkunik Province. Sevanavank Monastery, perched on a peninsula overlooking the lake, was founded in the 9th century and is famous for its striking medieval Armenian architecture. The site offers panoramic views of the sparkling blue waters and surrounding mountains, making it a popular destination for both pilgrims and tourists.

About Yerevan

Yerevan is Armenia's pink-stoned capital, a city of wide squares, café terraces and museums, with Mount Ararat standing on its southern skyline.

The city grew around Erebuni, a fortress founded in 782 BC, though most of today's centre was built in the Soviet era from the soft pink and orange tuff that earned Yerevan its nickname, the Pink City. Republic Square is the hub, framed by government buildings and museums. The Cascade, a giant stairway of terraces and sculpture, climbs a hillside, and the Matenadaran holds a famous collection of medieval manuscripts.

Top-ranked sights in Yerevan: Republic Square, Tsaghkadzor Ropeway, Matenadaran (Mesrop Mashtots Institute of Ancient Manuscripts).
