About Nanchang
Nanchang, the capital of Jiangxi on the Gan River, is known for the Tengwang Pavilion and for the 1927 uprising the PLA counts as its founding.
The Gan River runs through the city, and Nanchang has been a regional centre for many centuries. Its best-known building is the Tengwang Pavilion on the riverbank, named after a Tang dynasty prince and famous for a preface and poem written there. A museum commemorates the uprising of 1 August 1927.
