8. This impressive monument was designed to celebrate the Age of Discoveries in Portugal. It was inaugurated in 1960, marking the fifth hundredth anniversary of the death of one of the country's great discoverers, Prince Henry the Navigator. The monument consists of a set of sculptures that represent a proa of a caravella with the most important personalities in Portuguese history.
