Højdepunkter

Vitosha is the first park in Bulgaria and on the Balkan Peninsula. It was declared a national park on 27 October 1934. In 2000 the park was categorized as Natural. Nowadays its territory is 27,079 ha. Two reserves are situated on its territory (biosphere reservation “Bistrishko Branishte” (Bistritsa Forest Reserve) and “Torfeno Branishte” (Turf Forest Reserve), as well as one natural landmark (the Duhlata Cave). Vitosha offers excellent conditions for winter treks. We take you at the Vitosha Nature Park for an unforgettable snowshoes experience. Be ready! Let's experience the mountain hidden gems together. If the weather conditions do no allow snowshoeing you are going to be upgraded for free to hiking the Vitosha mountains with the Black peak with a total duration of about 5,5 hours.

About Sofia

Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria, lies below Vitosha mountain, mixing Roman ruins, golden-domed churches, mineral springs and a busy café culture.

Sofia sits in a high basin at the foot of Mount Vitosha, and its centre layers Roman Serdica, Orthodox Bulgaria and the Ottoman and Soviet eras. The gold-domed Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, completed in the early twentieth century, is the city's best-known building. Close by are the fourth-century rotunda of St George, the Banya Bashi Mosque and the remains of Roman streets that show through glass in the metro stations.

Top-ranked sights in Sofia: Rila Monastery, Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, Ivan Vazov National Theatre.
