11. The Macedonian Tower is one of the rare locations in the region where three civilizations stand one on top of the other. A historical tower, it is located within a section of the Roman city walls. Built by the Roman Emperor Hadrian, the Macedonian Tower is the only surviving example of the towers on the walls surrounding ancient Edirne. The area containing the Macedonian Tower and the surrounding wall remnants has been organized as the Edirne City History Museum and Archaeological Site. As part of the museum, which will showcase Edirne's 8300-year history in layers, the Macedonian Tower will also serve as a viewing terrace offering a unique panoramic view of Edirne, opening its doors to those who wish to see the city from above.
