Aboard a 4×4 farming vehicle, you will be crossing the scenic hills and vineyards and will explore the wonderful Douro Valley, a traditional place born in the culture of wine production. Have a first visit and wine tastings at a scenic spot and away from the crowded Pinhão. Afterwards, Lunch will be served at a private house where a family stores their products: wine, olive oil and honey. After lunch, there will be time to visit another estate, where you will have the opportunity to learn a little more about the Port wine making process and other types of wines. By going deep inside the vineyards, you will be able to feel all the intensity of this magical place... there are no doubts that this is a great way to get to know the Douro Valley – UNESCO World Heritage Site!

Pinhão Railway Station is the most beautiful station in the Douro. Built during the 19th century it is known for its tiles depicting the production of Port wine, from the grape harvest, the treading of the grapes to the transport of the wine in rabelo boats down the river to the cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia. The train arrived in Pinhão in 1880 which contributed to the rapid expansion of what used to be a small village. In 1937 the station received the tile panels that make it famous. They were designed by J. Oliveira, an artist who has also decorated other Portuguese stations, and were built in the Aleluia factory in Aveiro. There are 24 panels covering almost all the walls of the main building.
The viewpoint is located at the village of Casal de Loivos and offers a panoramic view of the terraced landscape of the Douro region, as well as the confluence of the Pinhão River with the Douro River.

About Pinhão
Pinhão is a small river village in Portugal's Douro Valley, at the heart of the terraced port-wine vineyards, with a railway station covered in blue tiles.
Pinhão sits on the north bank of the Douro river in northern Portugal, where the steep valley sides are cut into terraces of vines. This is the heart of the Alto Douro Wine Region, where port is made, first marked out as a wine area in the eighteenth century and now listed by UNESCO. The railway station is covered with panels of blue-and-white azulejo tiles showing the grape harvest and local scenes, and trains of the Douro line run along the river.
