Discover the darker side of Nuremberg on this small-group evening walking tour in English. With its bloody medieval history, Nuremberg has no shortage of gruesome tales of torture, murder, execution, and death. As the Ghosts and Gallows title suggests, once the executioner's job is done, sometimes something remains. Your English-speaking, professional paranormal guide will lead you through the darkening streets of the Old Town; sharing tales of haunted places, ghastly rituals, medieval torture, the shadows of the Third Reich, and even aliens from outer space. As night falls, we guarantee that you'll never look at Nuremberg the same way again. Note: this tour has a hilly terrain and may not be suitable for all fitness levels.
Wish for luck on the Beautiful Fountain because you're going to need it on your journey through Nuremberg's dark history. Centuries of blood flowed through the streets of the Hauptmarkt. Can you still hear the screams?
Find out what lurks beneath Nuremberg's historic City Hall.
When the sun sets, the staff of this medieval castle go home for the night. Make the the steep climb and discover what remains in the shadows after dark.
A lively square that has an almost supernatural pull just begging you to sit, relax, and look up at the stars. Just don't be alarmed if the stars begin looking back at you.
Discover the plight of the medieval executioner. Do you dare to cross his wooden bridge?
Death comes for us all - a visit to the White Tower will happily give you a friendly reminder.
The tour ends near the home of one of Nuremberg's most sinister spectors.

5Great Tour!
This was a great tour and our guide was wonderful. She was extremely knowledgeable and made the whole experience fun and exciting!
2Disappointing execution of what could have been a good tour
The idea of the tour was interesting but the guide was dry and not very attentive to guests. I was traveling with my mom who doesn't walk very fast. I tried to go between the group and my mom to help her keep up but they ended up losing us. She just charged ahead with no regard if the group was with her.
5Walking tour with creepy history
A great walking tour with ghost-related history! Our guide was engaging and clearly passionate which made it easy to pay attention and learn about the history of these places. The only thing that would have made the tour better was having it at night -- it was still very bright during our tour time.
5Was very interesting. ...
Was very interesting. Took the tour because I wanted to know more about the part the gallows played in Nuremberg's history. Definitely worth the time. Learned many interesting tidbits about the city.
5Must do Day 1!
We explored the city on our own for half a day prior to the tour. Wish we had done the tour first! Very knowledgeable and friendly guide. Learned a lot about all the places we had seen earlier in the day. Whether you are into the paranormal or not, this tour was well worth it! Great way to see the city and learn about its haunted history.
5Great Ghost Stories
Katrina was wonderful! She gave us some history, but added in stories of ghosts. She spoke very clear English, in fact, so good that I asked her if she was from the United States (which she is not!). The tour had quite a bit of walking, but nothing outrageous. The stories were fun, and she included several of her own personal experiences with the supernatural as well.
Nuremberg, in Franconia in northern Bavaria, is a walled medieval city of sandstone churches, an imperial castle and Christmas markets.
Nuremberg's old town sits inside a ring of medieval walls, crowned by the Kaiserburg, the imperial castle that was a residence of Holy Roman emperors. Below it, half-timbered houses and sandstone churches line the lanes by the Pegnitz river. The painter Albrecht Dürer lived in a house near the castle that is now a museum, and the Hauptmarkt square is dominated by the ornate Beautiful Fountain. Much of the old town was rebuilt after the Second World War.
Top-ranked sights in Nuremberg: Imperial Castle of Nuremberg (Kaiserburg), Hauptmarkt, Schöner Brunnen.
