Højdepunkter
That is a Unique Small-Group Tour guided by a knowledgeable, Local Bonaire resident who loves the Island with 28 points of interest. Why Shekhinah Tours is Different: Unlike other tours, this is not a big bus experience with long wait times and impersonal guides. We want you to feel welcome to the Island the moment you step off the ship, and we’re excited to share our knowledge of the history, culture, economy, and food on Bonaire! There is a maximum of 7 guests per vehicle, so you will personally interact with your guide throughout. You will see all the major sites and highlights. You will experience local neighbourhoods to sample snacks and drinks native to this region. Because of the minor group nature of this tour, you will be able to ask questions and make custom requests if there’s something, in particular you want to see. Time allows, and we’ll do all we can to make this trip memorable for you and your group!

Rute
Cruise Ship Passengers: Your guide will welcome you with your first name or last name on a sign in front of the cruise ship exit/enter gate where your ship is docked. As you walk away from your ship, you will be approaching a security checkpoint gate. When you exit the gate, walk straight forward, and look straight ahead. Your guide will be there 15 minutes before the start of your tour to collect you. Please Note: If your tour starts at 08:30, your guide will pick you up 15 minutes (08:15) before the start time of your tour. Non-Cruise Passengers: For the meeting, please meet your guide at the reception, and if you are staying at an apartment, your driver will be at the address you provided on the booking. Your guide will arrive at your pick-up location 15 minutes before the start of your tour to pick you up. We will notify you if there are any changes.
At the start of the tour, we will tell you about the downtown area of Kralendijk. Downtown Kralendijk consists of a few streets and is easily walkable. Kaya Grandi is the Main Street, where you will find most shops, restaurants, and cafes. After the tour, we can drop you off in the centre if you want to do some shopping and walk around. If you're on a cruise, the ship port is about a 5-minute walk from the downtown district, and you can easily see and walk back to your ship before departure.
Harbour Village Marina is one of two marina facilities on the island where both local and visiting yachts can book moorings and stay on the island. It's also a haven for surrounding boats to seek shelter and calmer water during storms. We will share more about the role of the Marina on our tour.
Trans World Radio plays a vital role in global radio and features a beautiful mural that you won't be able to miss. We'll tell you more about it on tour and give you a chance to take a photo.
Many of the island's hotels are located in a neighbourhood called Hato. We'll be passing through parts of this neighbourhood and sharing information as we head north.
Here you will see some of the largest homes on Bonaire. Your guide will share with you why people from all over the globe are moving to this area in particular, and why this area is valued so highly.
At 1000 Steps, we will make a stop where you can get out, walk around and take pictures of the beautiful scenery and clear blue ocean. Whether you descend the steps to the sea or stay on top, you will still have a nice view of the area and coast.
Tolo Dive Site is one of the best dive sites on the island due to the large reef and schools of fish that inhabit this area of coral cliffs. From a distance, you will see exciting bolder patterns, and your guide will point out outlines on the cliffs that show you where the water level was thousands of years ago.
From the 17th century until 1863, Bonaire, like many islands in the Caribbean, relied on slave labour to work plantations and the salt pans. Throughout the island, you will see remnants of this time that remind you of the hard work and hands that built the island's economy during this dark period. Here at Karpata, you will see a building where the women and the children would stay during the week.
Like all places, oil and resources play an essential role in daily life on Bonaire. But unlike many sites, islands do not allow for a natural supply found locally. Here at BOPEC, your tour guide will be showing you some of the island's oil tanks and the reason for their placement here on the island.
Goto (Pronounced Go - To) Meer is a beautiful protected reserve area where you will often see flamingos and native birds in their natural habitat. You also will see the sparkle of salt deposits and the dense greenery in this Northern part of the island. As this is a protected area, we will not be exiting the vehicle, but you will have the chance to take photos and spot the flamingos. In the distance, you'll see Brandaris, the tallest point on Bonaire, located in the Washington Nature Preserve Park.
Rincon was the first official town established in the 16th century. Here you will see some of the oldest buildings on the island, typical local architecture, and learn why this location was chosen many years ago to be the first official settlement when the Spanish discovered Bonaire.

5Beautiful Bonaire with a local
We absolutely loved this tour! It offered a nice blend of history and interesting sights. We were awed by the contrast of pink and turquoise water at the salt mines. The flamingo reserve and adorable donkeys were nature at its best. You can’t go wrong with this tour. Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly.
1Be warned!
Consider yourself warned and stay away from this company!!! I am deeply disappointed with my recent experience with Shekhinah Tours. The situation that unfolded during the tour left me feeling unsafe and unsupported, primarily due to the inadequate response following an incident involving our driver. While the driver did his best to assist us, claiming to have some Red Cross certification, his evaluation method consisted of merely checking one passenger’s eyes and feeling her face, which did not provide the medical support we urgently needed. At no point did he inform us that we could have a qualified physician evaluate our condition, leading to frustration and confusion. In our attempt to seek help, we reached out to our hotel. Unfortunately, their efforts to contact a doctor on our behalf were unsuccessful, and we were left without the proper medical care we needed. Moreover, the tour operator’s communication during this crisis was lacking. While he seemed focused on contacting others about his own predicament, we did not receive any police report or clear guidance on how to resolve the situation, which added to our distress. We later discovered that the individual who eventually assisted us was simply a taxi driver and not an official representative of the tour company. Given these circumstances, I believe a refund should be processed, and we should receive the necessary medical assistance. It’s crucial for companies like Viator to ensure their partners prioritize customer safety and provide proper resources in emergency situations. I have 4 additional bookings and I’m seriously considering canceling all of them! I hope this experience leads to improvements for future customers.
1Awful, please don’t waste your money and time.
By far the most boring and horrible tour I’ve ever taken. There is absolutely nothing to see. Our guide was very bad and extremely boring, he kept making terrible jokes that weren’t not even remotely funny, just embarrassing, and all you wanted was for him to stop talking. The tour was supposed to last 3 hours, but it felt like 6. On top of that, the transportation was quite dirty, even though it was the first tour of the day and it was also in pretty poor condition. Also, when we booked it, we specifically requested a Spanish speaking guide. He NEVER explained anything in Spanish. I booked it for a family member who doesn’t speak English, and I had to translate absolutely everything because the guide didn’t say anything in Spanish. I wouldn’t have had a problem if it hadn’t been in Spanish if the tour had been good and the guide competent but everything was awful. We were just constantly checking the time to see how much longer it would last. Would I recommend it? ABSOLUTELY NOT. I wouldn’t take it again even for free. Not even if I were paid. It was just a complete waste of time.
5Great Way To See The Island
This tour is a great way to see a lot of the island. The van was comfortable and nicely air conditioned. The guide gave us lot’s of good information and let us stay at each location long enough to get the pictures we wanted. He also pulled over several times for extra sights like to see some wild donkeys and goats.

About Kralendijk
Kralendijk is the small capital of Bonaire, a Dutch Caribbean island, with pastel waterfront buildings and coral reef a few strokes from the shore.
Kralendijk lies on the sheltered western coast of Bonaire, a flat, dry island off the coast of Venezuela that belongs to the Netherlands. Pastel-coloured buildings line the waterfront, and Fort Oranje stands at the harbour. Just offshore lies the uninhabited islet of Klein Bonaire, and the reef around both is protected as a marine park, set up in 1979, which has made the island a centre of shore diving.
Top-ranked sights in Kralendijk: Bonaire National Marine Park, Klein Bonaire, Seru Largu Lookout.
